How to Play TagTeam Agents
TagTeam Agents is an intense 2-player cooperative game of deduction, risk management, and telepathy. You and your partner are a spy team trying to identify 7 friendly agents hidden in a crowded field of 20 code names. But be careful—innocent bystanders and a deadly assassin are hiding in plain sight.
The Asymmetrical Roles
What makes TagTeam Agents unique is that you and your partner see two completely different screens. Communication is limited to single-word clues.
- The Handler (The Eyes): This player sees the true identity of every card on the board. They know which words are Agents (Green), which are Bystanders (Grey), and which word is the Assassin (Black). Their job is to give a one-word clue that connects multiple green words together.
- The Operative (The Action): This player sees a board of 20 grey, neutral words. They have no idea which ones are safe. They must interpret the Handler's clue and click the correct words to make contact with the agents.
Turn-by-Turn Gameplay
The game is played in "volleys" using a unique link-sharing mechanic. You do not need to be online at the same time to play.
- 1. The Clue: The Handler looks at the board and finds a connection between the green words. For example, if "Apple" and "Pie" are both Agents, the Handler might type the clue "Dessert" and the number "2". They then send the game link to the Operative.
- 2. The Deduction: The Operative opens the link and sees the clue: "Dessert (2)". They scan the board for words matching that description.
- 3. The Risk: The Operative clicks a word.
- If it is an Agent, it turns green! Success. They can continue guessing.
- If it is a Bystander, the turn ends immediately.
- If it is the Assassin, the game is instantly lost. Boom.
- 4. The Pass: After making their guesses, the Operative clicks "End Turn" to send the updated board back to the Handler for the next round of clues.
Strategy for Handlers
The most common mistake is being too ambitious. Trying to connect 4 words with a vague clue often leads the Operative to click the Assassin. It is better to get 2 sure-fire points than to risk the entire mission on a stretch. Always check the "Assassin" word before sending your clue—if the Assassin is "Snow" and your clue is "Cold," you are walking into a trap!
