What is Pattern Blink?
Pattern Blink is a visual working-memory game. A 2×2 grid of squares flashes in a specific sequence — your job is to tap the same squares in the same order immediately after. Five rounds per day, same sequence for everyone worldwide.
The game targets visuospatial working memory — your brain’s ability to hold and replay the positions of objects in space. This is distinct from verbal memory and is strongly linked to math fluency and attention in children. It’s a standard component in cognitive assessment batteries for exactly that reason, and one of the skills most responsive to consistent practice.
How to play
- Watch the grid — four squares flash in a sequence.
- When flashing stops, tap the squares in the same order.
- Five rounds per day; sequences get slightly longer in later rounds.
- One play per day — progress is saved on your device.
Tips
- Narrate positions quietly as they flash ("top-left, bottom-right…") — verbal labeling boosts retention.
- Chunk flashes in pairs rather than trying to hold all four at once.
- Consistent daily play matters more than any single strategy — this is a skill that compounds.
